Could this be a shortcut to astral projection and/or OBEs?

I had a very eventful night last night where I got in and out of semi-lucid dreaming over and over again. I say semi-lucid because the realization that I was dreaming didn’t last very long to warrant calling it a lucid dream but I would spend more time floating in a seemingly infinite black space.

Also, you know that feeling of falling right before going to sleep? I usually equate it with losing consciousness but last night I would go through it and retain consciousness. It would be dark for a while then I would notice the beginning of a dream then somehow lose self awareness until something in the dream triggered me to realize I was dreaming. I’d be lucid in the dream for not too long then I’d wake up and the circle would begin again.

This went on and on all through the night intersected by “the shakes” every now and then. This is when I feel like my body is vibrating uncontrollably, like a shot of electricity is going through me and I start hearing loud noises. It’s not a pleasant sensation. I’ve heard that this is usually a sign your astral body is getting ready to separate from your gross body but I’ve never sat through it long enough to see what happens when it calms down. It usually brings out so much fear in me and so I always kick myself awake as soon as I can.

The major breakthrough though was the last thing that happened before I decided to just fully get up and not go back to bed.

I was floating in that black endless space then I felt a strange, sort of numb sensation on the middle of my forehead. My eyes remained closed. I was curious to know what was going on there so I paid more attention to it. The more I “looked” the more a clear outline of a black circle started to form. Also it was like I was the center and the whole room was spinning around me.

So I’m spinning and spinning and spinning and the black ring suddenly opens or rather, cracked open and on the other side there was a bright white light. Everything was black except for the light coming from this small circle seemingly far from where I was. That’s when I was like “Hell no!!” Probably the wrong term to use here but my attitude was more like “I don’t know what this is and we’re not playing with things we don’t quite understand so that’s it for today. I’m out!”. I kicked myself awake again, watched some YouTube videos and waited for sunrise.

Yeah, last night was intense.

But as I was talking to my partner this morning about the experience, it occurred to me what might have caused it.

I had a cup of tea with a friend that evening and she literally lives on top of a hill. It was quite a workout getting there. And after I had come down from her place I walked around the city and shopped around for a bit. The result was a tea’d up me(caffeinated me) with an exhausted body. My mind was on high alert but my body was totally worn out. Also, I hadn’t had any caffeine in a long time.

I almost never sleep without taking a shower. It’s not even a cleanliness thing, I just don’t sleep well if I haven’t had a shower. It’s become like a ritual. But last night there was none of that. I just fell into bed and the show started.

So, the hack could be: Get super physically exhausted while high on tea and see if it will keep your mind sharp but with a body that falls dead asleep immediately. If you try it, let me know if this experience is replicable.

[2022 Feb 6 Edit: I’ve gotten better at sitting through “the shakes” and so far it’s been weird to say the least. Among other things, there’s been me falling through my bed, there’s been a woman floating over my bed, and last night only what I can describe as an dark cloud ran towards me saying “I want to embrace you”. So yeah, it’s eclectic.]
